Piping/Pipeline Minimum Thickness

Overview

Within SHIELD, piping and pipelines have a screening minimum thickness value set which can be used as a calculation tool for component minimum thickness and remaining life calculation. This field allows the user to configure a company defined minimum structural thickness for piping based on design code, diameter, corrosion allowance and manufacturing tolerance. This logic is applied across piping and pipeline assets

Options

For each piping design code, five options are provided:

  • Defined lookup list based on diameter and material type
  • Nominal thickness - percentage of nominal
  • (Nominal thickness - percentage of nominal) - corrosion allowance
  • Nominal thickness - fixed value
  • Nominal thickness - fixed value - corrosion allowance
